How about don't get shot when pulled over by police

Most people have no appreciation or understanding how difficult the job of police officer is. I'm not in law enforcement, but I find the sentiment 'police are bad' simply ignorant. Classic example. Kneejerk outrage via this pic, Michigan, April 2022. Driver had outstanding (violence related) warrant, fake license plate, nonstop resisting officer commands, then running, fighting, then shot dead. Current example from a few days ago: Ricky Cobb II of Minneapolis. Basically, same exact story . Rinse & repeat. I've been pulled over several times, none recently. 2x for expired tags (my dumb), rolling stop sign (guilty), leaving 3 seconds before green on the highway on-ramp (despise them). All those are 10+ years ago. The most recent was 4 yrs ago, didn't pay attn to flashing yellows indicating school nearby. Pulled over for speeding. Guilty. Anyhoots, my point. I wasn't yakking back with the officer, bitching about 'why'd you stop me boo hoo' etc.

Here's what I was doing at age 17. Not being coddled.

Dateline: high school. I was 17, Darren 15. Together we set off on our bicycles from north of the twin cities to the Canadian border town of Ely, MN. Camping along the way. That stretch took 5 days. Then west 250 miles in a brutal headwind for 2 days to Walker MN. Then south 50 miles to Crosslake, MN where we caught a ride home w/my pops from his cabin on the lake. We wore cutoff jeans or nylon running shorts, regular tennis shoes, and heavy Bell helmets. No cell phones, obviously. Not much cash. Gawdawful cycling clothes. I recall he hit the deck day 1 in Elk River on a highway shoulder when he drifted into me. He banged his head but helmet worked. 2nd day it poured, we setup a tent somewhere after a muddy road in the rain. Ate dinty moore beef stew out of the can. Jelly? actual view, could be worse Dateline: a few weeks ago. Way back in the 90s me mum bought a small, forested lakeside piece of property. Nothing happened for years until tree clearing began in late 90s & the start of building a house began in the year of our lord 2000. Many family members helped. Some have legit construction & carpentry skills. The rest did the various unskilled odd jobs. There's a pic of me up 12 feet installing insulation in the arched ceiling. My sole insulation job; there shan't be another. That's what my readers are for. Over the last 20+ years a slew of family members hath visited. It's a 3-hour drive from the big city where they all live. But worth it. On a lake, trees, birds, all that crap. The nightly view: 15 years ago, one large family cohort, the largest actually (nonstop breeding for the welfare paychecks, for real), were banned from the property.
