Dateline: 2018-19. I had the good fortune in meeting a few cyclists who were actually funny & athletic. Lots of cyclists out there. Most are either absurdly self-absorbed or brain numbingly yawners or social misfits. Don't believe me? Join a cycling club. I've joined many, in several states. Cycling is mostly a loner activity, even in clubs. The sport attracts social misfits. I'm one of them; relative to the bland personality majority, I have the self-awareness to self-identify. Let's focus One of those groups is Lactic Acid Cycling / LAC. Some were even normalish. Long Saturday morning rides. Midweek also. Rode with them for years. Are American schools really this bad?

Do you live in an area with roundabouts? Some call them traffic circles. I call them roundabouts. Ever been stuck behind a driver baffled by roundabouts ? I'm a fan of roundabouts because they prevent t-bone crashes, need no electricity nor maintenance. Also, they require an extra degree of focus on the driver's part. But most of all, roundabouts baffle people. Especially in an area that introduces them , the controversy, the letters to the editor, the hand wringing. And that's what's really great about them. I've long believed roundabouts are a window into a person's ability, beyond driving skills. I think a lot about the state of the world. Always have. I'm a news hound, but in particular the last 5 years, thinking a lot about the country we live in. In particular, the people in this country. Pink Floyd actually did met Wizard of Oz. I saw it happen.

Are you familiar with the urban legend of The Wizard of Oz + Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon? Dateline: 2017. Boise Treefort Festival (5 days of amazing, same format as SxSW). Final nite of the fest, Sunday nite. Boise Contemporary Theatre. I saw a play so profound, so outrageously ambitious, I have no interest in seeing a play again, ever. It was called 'T here are Chinese Tunnels under Boise.' But back to Floyd, Oz, and the urban legend. Thousands, maybe tens of thousands, swear it's true. This is a global phenomenon. The gist is that the two are perfectly synchronized. If you watch the flick on mute, listening to the record at the same time, they're in sync. I'm not making this up.
